How and when to plan a baby shower? Please help!

Hey gals! My bestie is 6 weeks pregnant and I want to do a succulent-woodsy baby shower for her that’s super special! (She LOVES Yosemite and succulents). But I need some help:
-At what month are baby showers usually held?
-What are some party essentials?
-What are some fun games? 
-Are surprise showers better, or is it easier for her to know?
-What are some retailers (online or in-store) where I can buy some supplies?

I had mines at 35 weeks. I’ll probably ask her if she prefer to have a surprise or if she wants to help plan her baby shower as well. I found a lot of decorations on amazon and party city. You can also Pinterest some baby shower game ideas and decorations etc.

We let her know so we can make sure to invite everyone she wants there. Also it just worked out that she will be due a week and a half after..... I really suggest avoiding that if possible! Haha this one is just a sprinkle but its entirely possible she will miss it - she was a week early with her first! Second trimester is best, that's (supposedly) when you feel best.

I had my shower at 32 weeks. I ended up having a car accident a week later so the timing was perfect. I think it would be better for her to know that way she can plan for it and if she wants to invite people you don’t have contact info for. Check party stores or like a Hobby Lobby for supplies. Or maybe online would be easier for the theme you are looking for.

I'd say 32 weeks as well. I had mine "so early" but ended up delivering my son a week later.
