Using phone while watching tv

My partner is constantly on his phone, just scrolling through reddit, whenever we watch tv or a movie together and it really bothers me.

Sometimes I ask him to put the phone down. Today I told him it really bothers me when he’s on his phone while we watch tv or a movie together and he got very upset with. Telling me there’s nothing wrong with it, we spend a lot of time together, that I’m just being controlling, and that it’s my problem if it bothers me - not his.

Am I being unreasonable here? His response just really hurt me.
