How to breastfeed ?

I really want to breast feed... still not pregnant but I love information so any breastfeeding mommies out there with some advice ?

The one tip the lactation specialist gave me in the hospital that not only helped me breastfeed my 1st for a full year, but also helped me establish latch with my 2nd (less than 2 weeks ago) is, pinch your breast to flatten out the nipple before shoving (yes shoving) it into the babies mouth. Babies mouths are small in comparison to most breast & the best latch comes when majority of the nipple is in the babies mouth, so the pinch allows a larger portion of nipple to get into the babies mouth & also tends to assist in the baby opening his mouth wider for better latch & suction. Also, make sure once latched, that the babies top & bottom lip are turned out. It also aids in better latch & suction. Good luck! Breastfeeding def take work, but it is completely worth all the difficulty!!

It doesn't come naturally for everyone. I would suggest having a lactation consultant lined up. Also, try to find a local La Leche League chapter and go to one of their monthly meetings. They are free. It's a great way to learn by watching other mothers nurse and to hear from women with many different nursing experiences. Lastly, read a breastfeeding book.
