Depends on the symptoms.  If there is no fever and the kid is acting normal aside from having a cough or runny nose, I would send to school.  The cough portion of a cold/flu can linger for weeks.  It just isn’t realistic to keep your child out of school for weeks when they are no longer contagious.

A cold? Yes go to school. Fever, throwing up or diarrhea? No they stay home. My kids have cold symptoms literally all winter just like me (cough, runny nose etc etc) can’t keep them home for months.

🤷‍♀️ if any fever definitely no. If no fever... the 1st day or 2 of the cold when it’s at its worst , probably not. A week in when it’s just still a running nose & a bit of a cough , yeah.

If they are contaigous or showing unusual symptoms then no. 
If they seemed fit and well and just had the sniffles then they will go to school.

If they are dizzy and have that ran down feeling no, they would stay home. A small cough and running nose I'd send them to school. People forget the millions of germs you come in contact with just from a trip to the store to get the cold meds. I think it's more important teaching kids to properly wash their hands and cover their mouths.

I would send my child to school if she didn’t have a fever and felt good enough to go. I’m not going to make her suffer through the day if she’s feeling really awful, but if she’s in good spirits at home, and fever free, she’s going.
