Do you use Care.com? - To find childcare

Hi everyone. I’m curious how many of you use Care? Would you pay a child caretaker to watch your baby and also their own? Or would you ask that they find somebody to watch their baby while they watch yours? Can’t decide on a potential caretaker that has a 4 month old of her own to watch my 6mo old

Hi there I am a child career who has her own children and none of my previous clients asked me to find childcare for my own as it would be pointless for me to do childcare in the first place. I chose to do childcare so that I could still be available for my children and give them the best care. I think the fact that a career has children of their own was a bonus because they played with and had a very good relationship with the children who I cared for. Some children enjoy being in an environment with other children and it aids their social and emotional development.

I would be ok with it on a case by case basis. If this is two children in a similar age group, I would be grateful she’s going through the same at home and has that instinct in place for that age group that experience provides. I wouldn’t necessarily want a hyper 7 year old that I never met, around my newborn. I would want to meet that 7 year old, make sure the babysitter understood that SHE is the caretaker and her child is not to hold my child, give meals, or provide anything beyond a smile... and I would probably have a nanny cam in that case.

If it was an older child I’d be more supportive of it. Babies are demanding, and I feel like having her own infant there would take away from your child’s care.

I use it to babysit kids. I will be having my baby in December and I’d hope people would still allow me to watch their kids even with mine there

It’s your choice but as you know, now as a mother, everyone needs jobs to provide for their young. It would make no sense for her to pay for a sitter as she would have no net income. I think as a mom with fresh maternal instincts, she will be able to provide good care.

How old is your child? I wouldn't be apposed to her bringing her child... but I would totally do a trial run, before officially hiring her. Good luck on your search.
