Mother in law
My mother-in-law, who was a cocaine addict while my husband was growing up and lost custody of him, acts like she’s an expert when it comes to my 3 week old son. She says we’re going to spoil him by holding him too much (he sleeps in his pack n play all night without crying), doesn’t understand what the big deal is with putting him on his stomach to sleep (because she did it with her kids 🙄) and feels we are being over protective by not taking him places like Walmart and target at 3 weeks. She said he needs exposure to germs so he’s not sick when he goes to daycare. Seriously? She came over yesterday and brought her dog—which has a tendency to be aggressive—and we made her put him in the backyard, because we don’t allow indoor animals at our house. This was before we had kids, too. She then made a big deal when my husband asked her to wash her hands—because she’d been holding the dog and working all day at Walmart—before picking up our son. She said we need to let our child be “natural.” My husband told her our son can be natural and be clean, too.
Anyone else dealing with a mother-in-law like this?
