Why do pregnancy symptoms and period symptoms have to be so similar :(

I had what I thought was period symptoms literally the day before af was due, I said to my SO I can feel my period coming fully expected to be greeted by her in the morning and now I’m 12+1 weeks pregnant she never arrived so don’t give up hope!
