Short birth story!

My labor/birth story is relatively short and boring! But I thought I’d share in case anyone was scared or worried about birth!

My oldest just turned 10, so I was scared what labor was going to be like because at this point I couldn’t remember how painful it was. All i really remember was how quickly labor went by with her (water broke at 8am and she was born by 1:30pm). With my son I was working full time, and planned on working up until my water broke. The Monday before i had my son i had my 37 week appt and was only dilated 1cm. On August 2nd, I got up from bed at 9am and immediately felt a gush of water, almost like i had peed myself but I didn’t feel like I needed to pee. I have to add, I barely had any Braxton Hicks or any signs of labor coming on before this. After I felt that gush, I began noticing a lot of mucus coming out everytime i went to pee. At 2pm, I went to work, and as I was walking in I felt another small gush of water. I had a full book of clients that day, and as I started on my first client (haircut) I started getting contractions about every 20 mins. At 5pm, I went to go pick up my daughter from camp, and as I was getting back in the car I felt another huge gush of water. The drive back to work my contractions were now 8 mins apart and hurt! Thankfully when I got back my husband was already waiting for our daughter, so at that point I told my manager i had to go to the hospital. We went home and got all of our stuff ready, dropped our daughter off at our friends, and went to the hospital. When we got there, they checked the fluid to make sure it wasn’t just pee and i was still only 1cm dilated (it was 8pm at this point.) They admitted me when the result came back that my water was broken and had been leaking for 12 hours at this point, and said if by 4am I hadn’t progressed they would start me on pitocin, but could give me something to relax my body a little (I didn’t want an epidural). By 10:40 my contractions were 2-3 mins apart and she checked me again and i was still only 1cm dilated, so they started the medicine and I finally fell asleep for an hour. At 12am, I was begging for more but she said they couldn’t give me any until 12:40 when the next dose was allowed. By 12:40 my contractions were literally non stop and I felt my body getting ready to push. I tried to slow it down, and when the nurse checked me I was 8cm dilated! She yelled for everyone to get ready and to call the doctor in. By 12:50 my son was born and the doctor didn’t walk in until 10 minutes later! They couldn’t believe my body went from 1cm to pushing out the baby in 2 hours! Neither could i honestly, I thought I was going to be there forever, lol.

I now realize this story is long as hell but! When you feel like it’s never gonna happen, you might be just as surprised as I was!

And here he is, Jude Maxwell born August 3rd at 12:50 am! He’s now 3 1/2 weeks old 😍
