FTM, what do I expect during an induction?

How did you manage pain during your induction? I am 40+4 today, yesterday my doctor set my induction date for this saturday. I will be 41+1, doctor didnt want me to go too much over 41 weeks. I am debating on getting the epidural or not, I have been reading and watching all the videos on labouring with vs without the epidural. 
If you got the epidural for your first delivery, did you find it hard to know when to push? 
Any tips on having an induction without an epidural?

Im a ftm as well and i had the epidural. The process was really fast, did not hurt at all. Only felt a slight pinch and that was it! The epidural numbed my pain but I was still able to move my legs! No pain when pushing though, just some pressure. I pushed my baby out in 20 mins!

I was induced last week. Pitocin started at 5:45am. I got an epidural about 4 hours later once my contractions started to get bad and I am so glad I did. The rest of my labor and delivery was smooth and easy. At 10:30am I was 5cm and then just 2 hours later my water broke on its own and I was fully dilated. While I couldn’t feel the pain from contractions, I felt pressure in my vagina during each contraction when it was time to push. I told my doctor when I was feeling pressure and then she’d confirm it was a contraction and tell me to push. After 30 minutes of pushing he was born at 1:22pm about 7.5 hours after my pitocin started.

My induction was 44 hours total.  The pain was only unmanageable after they broke my water at about hour 37 and I got the epidural within an hour. It worked very well for me. I couldn’t feel or move my right leg at all-it was dead to me 😂. Once I was at 10cm I still felt a little pressure. I pushed for an hour and there were only a couple contractions where I actually knew they were coming. But, the nurse and doctor coached me thorough when one was starting and when to push and I did just fine. I only had to push an hour because my contractions weren’t close together; they had to actually up my pitocin during pushing to help speed them up. I had every intention of trying natural but those contractions were intense plus I was already exhausted with being in labor so long and little sleep. I felt the epidural was totally worth it in my case. Good luck!!

I had an induction with my son 2 weeks ago without medication. He’s my second baby and first time I went naturally. I guess my advice to you would be listen to your body because you’re completely out of control (it’s like that with any labour but I found less control with an induction). I had a water birth and practiced hypnobirthing which really helps when it comes to pain control. You don’t have long but read read read about it! It’s the best method - 2 births without any medication and I have no regrets

I was induced using the balloon catheter, I did get the epidural (the first didn’t work so I was in agony for quite some time) it was a godsend! I am certain i would not have survived if I hadn’t gotten it at all. 
I didn’t feel a single contraction after I got it, but my butthole started hurting when it was time to push and I had no struggle knowing when to do it because the pressure would get really intense and it felt like I had to take the biggest shit of my life without being able to hold it in. 😂
