Period like cramps at 30+2 weeks

Bridgette

So I didn't have BH with my first child. Everything I've read described them as a tightening in the stomach. To me it feels like I'm about to start my period but a little more painful with some back pain. It's been like that a couple days but not consistent. I'm even having dreams every night that my baby came early. I'm sure it's just normal pregnancy pains but the dreams are freaking me out lol. Is it worth going in for? I would have just gone already but it's not very close and don't have the money to spend on gas this week.

I had this the past few days and called my OB. She told me to go to L&D and found out it was contractions (got them to stop thank God) but just call and talk about it. Never hurts to ask I am 30+3

My braxton hicks don’t hurt, they are just tightening. Nothing like a menstral cramp to me. I’d go in girl! Hope all is okay!

The same thing happened to me two days ago, and I’m still in L&D. I thought it was Braxton Hicks but quickly knew it couldn’t be because they never went away. It lasted all through the night, and I finally went to the hospital in the morning. I had what I would describe as lower abdominal tightening and cranking like menstrual cramps, and it felt like my lower part of the uterus, under the belly, was in a Charlie Horse. I had to start breathing techniques, was up all night pacing/drinking water/pelvic tilts/exercise ball/attempted to sleep.... so when I got to the hospital, it is preterm contractions. It made my cervix dilate from nothing to 1cm while in the hospital. I’m still here. I got two steroid injections to mature baby’s lungs and am on a horrific medicine Magnesium drip. The contracts were less frequent but started coming back. Idk, but I’m glad I came to the hospital because I was worried the baby was in distress.

Thank you! I had lower back pain with them, too! Definitely ask your doctor/go to hospital if they become really frequent or unbearable like you can’t walk. However, the nurses told me that many women experience this, and we have contractions and don’t even feel them! It’s more than Braxton Hicks but not enough to send us into labor, just our uteruses getting practice and ready for the birth. What made me know it was too much and a bit more than that were the symptoms not going away after 8+ hours and getting closer together 😥 The magnesium helped to “calm” my uterus though, lol, and baby is moving around and happy as ever- so glad!!

Sounds similar to me. I have been getting this terrible pain and pressure but my nurse said it sounded like round ligament pain. Every time this happens my stomach is tightening and feels like I lose my breath. I don’t want to go to the hospital if it’s nothing but it worries me not knowing. I also have been cramping which I thought were Braxton Hicks but this is something different.
