How often can I pump?

Question

Right now my nipples are scabbed and sore so I'm pumping for my LO and I'd like to start getting ahead instead of one bottle at a time.
I'm 9 days PP please help!

It’s recommended that you not pump until after 6 weeks to give your body time to regulate your supply. BUT if that’s your choice I’d pump every 2 hours. 
• Use coconut oil, olive oil, or nipple cream as a lube in your flanges. 
• Make sure you have the correct sized flanges. The wrong size can also cause damage.

I wouldn’t go overboard because it might signal to your body to make a LOT of milk and that kind of engorgement would be terribly uncomfortable. Keep it to like every 2-3 hours maybe depending on your body’s signals, and get a GOOD nipple cream. I highly recommend earth mama angel baby. And bamboobies has a good pump “lube” I liked too

My daughter was in the nicu. To establish and keep your supply you need to pump 8 times in a 24 hour period.

If you’d like to breastfeed, get a couple of nipple shields. I use one with my 8-week old at every feeding. My nipples have never cracked, bled, or been so sore I didn’t want to wear clothing. And she and I are starting to pepper in feedings without using a shield, and I still have no pain. Amazing little things. 
IMO, pumps hurt a lot more than breastfeeding while using a nipple shield.
