I just got home from having a partial hymenectomy. For those of you who don’t know what a hymenectomy is, it’s when you have your hymen surgically removed or opened up.

I’m 18 years old, and have never put in a tampon before, never been able to put a finger in my vagina, or anything up there without excruciating pain.

However, in a few months I will be putting a tampon in for the first time ever! This was a tough thing to go through, but my family and my boyfriend (who was the one who figured out that my hymen was too intact and suggested I see my gyno) were so supportive of me!

To any girls who are having pain down there when trying to insert a tampon and have never had a pelvic exam, I urge you to speak to your doctor! It could be such an easy fix!
