Baby monitor in an apartment?

So I live in a small one bedroom apartment. I'm considering getting a cheap baby monitor so I can go downstairs to do laundry, get the mail, etc without taking the baby. I wouldn't do it unless they were asleep. But think having the option would be good. Is that reasonable? Anybody else do this?

Yes girl get you one! You can bring it with you if you leave as well, step outside get the mail unless you live I the bad side of town...my mail is like 250 ft away maybe more and I have a monitor that makes it all the way out to the mail it was cheep at Target $20 and it works better than my pricy camera monitor!
