How many Baby Showers should someone get?

I have two boys, 4 & 6. My husband is an amazing father to them but they are his step children. I am expecting another boy, his first bio child! 
People keep asking me if we will have a shower and I originally had said no. I don’t want people to feel like it’s too much. 
With that being said, at the same time I love having events and parties and just enjoying people. So what do you ladies think? What would you do?

I personally always followed the rule of one baby shower regardless of how many kids you have. The point is you should save your stuff if you plan on having other children because that gets expensive to expect people to come to a party and bring big gifts for each child you have. However that being said I like the idea that has recently become popular of doing a “sprinkle”. Basically a little get together, nothing too crazy and extravagant, but maybe a BBQ where you welcome family and friends to celebrate the new addition. People will more than likely bring some small items anyway and your celebrating the new baby but not asking for big ticket items.

I think it’s all personal preference honestly. This is our first and we will have at least 3 because my parents can’t get along enough to have one big baby shower for both sides(Mom and dad). My work is also talking about having one and not to mention if my SOs families decide to do them then that’s 2 more. It seems like a lot but our boy won’t need clothes or diapers for a long time.

My family and most women in my community do a baby shower for every baby! Nothing crazy and extravagant. We don't spend thousands of dollars on location/caterer or cake so that might be the difference for why some feel one is enough. 
We do a fun easy going house party with either a potluck (if mom doesn't need anything for baby) or simple foods and a yummy store bought cake. 
We mostly just want to celebrate mom and baby. Show love and support and catch up with friends and family 🤷 
I think now a days people call small/simple showers baby sprinkles

If someone wants to throw you a baby shower I definitely wouldn’t say no lol. If you’re not comfortable throwing one for yourself than don’t. I think people usually don’t throw more than one because they have most of what they need from previous kids but yours are older so I’m guessing you don’t have a ton of baby stuff.

Most only do a shower for the first then diaper parties for additional children. They are much less formal more laid back get together. No games no opening gifts(which tend to just be diapers and wipes and some people will give other things like clothes, toys, other baby needs, etc) just some food and spending time together.

In your situation I would probably do one. I personally feel like the point of a shower is to help the parents with expenses and getting the needed items for baby so if the kids are close together then there shouldn't be a need for one but it's been 4 years since you had a child and there's new family in the picture so I think it's totally fine :)

I had a baby shower with my first son and then fell pregnant with my second son when the first son was only 5 months old. I had a sprinkle with the second one since I had all the big things left over from my oldest son. 2 years later and I'm pregnant with my daughter and I had another baby shower. Family and friends thought she must be celebrated as should every baby.
