Finish finance or trade in ? 🤨

Question

I have 3 years left for my current car 
Is it wiser to keep it (it’s almost at 80k miles) a 2013 Hyundai Sonata 
OR 
Trade for a newer car? I’m due with #2 in April and could potentially use more space. 
ALSO if I do get a new car what are some haggling tips? I did a horrible job the first time with this.

I would pay off your car and if you want a new one that's worth more, pay yourself a typical car payment into a savings account for a few months or year depending on how much you need. then sell your current car (private sale! not dealer) and you have extra money from savings. avoid car payments at all costs!! if you have time, look up Dave Ramsey on YouTube. he has good tips on finance

It really depends what you owe, and what you want to get... how many years in to the payments are you? Otherwise you’ll end up with a higher car payment. 
I have 3 years left on my 2011 sonata and I’m at 72000 miles and I recently went browsing at a dealership and spoke with someone who said you really want to be 3+ years in on your payments if you don’t want to end up upside down.

I had a 10 year old Hyundai with over 125k that ran perfect before my hubby totaled it 🤦🏽‍♀️ Now I have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra that I plan on driving for another 10 years... I think you have some time left in your Sonata, just keep up with the maintenance and you should be golden.

It’s always best to buy a car at the end of the year and the end of the month. Buy a 2018 this year not a 2019 that came out already. End of month they’re trying to reach their quota and will be open to more haggling.

I am keeping my car it’s a Camero so it is not a suitable mom car. But I only have a few more years left to pay on it. I have started putting money into a savings account. I have found a few nice “mom cars” hatchbacks. That are decent won’t have to worry about breaking down. between 2011-2016 between $1000-$5000 and plan on saving and buying one of those.

As far as haggling goes, get pre-approved from a credit union before you go to the dealership.  That tells them you're ready to buy so they know they're not wasting their time.  Email several different dealerships and ask for their best price.  Let them know you are shopping around.  Once you're at the dealership, be willing to walk away if they start playing games with you.  Also, go in on the last day of the month if possible.  The next couple months are an ideal time to go as they will be trying to move their 2018 models to make room for the 2019 models. 
Finally, do your research before you get to the dealership and know what your current car is worth.  They're going to ask you how much you need to get for it to make the deal.

Keep it! I had a 2012 Durango Crew. I had 2 years left to pay, and when I traded it in I had 100,000 miles on it. I had negative that went onto my new 2018 Durango GT payments. Now my payments are astronomical. But worth it in a way because it has everything I wanted and we won’t be buying a new car for a long long time.
