Bleeding when I wipe! Help! IBS?

Question

So I’ve been getting some blood after I go number 2, I’ve also been having bad constipation and diarrhea, I’m trying to stay calm. I have a doctor appointment in a few days and also a colonoscopy hopefully next week. I’m just terrified I’ve never had digestive bleeding before and looking at google there are so many things that could be wrong with me. What can I do to stay calm? Does anyone have any advice?

You said you were constipated, so what probably happened was your asshole tore a little bit while you were shitting. I've had that happen to me before, the bleeding will stop.

If it’s bright red blood then I wouldn’t worry as that is more likely to be a tear, fissure or piles in the anus causing the bleeding. Brown blood is the thing to worry about because it means there’s more likely to be an issue going on with your bowels or stomach. 
If the blood is only when you wipe and not in your stool, and is fresh red in colour then I wouldn’t panic until you had your colonoscopy. Good luck with your appt!

The blood was bright blood, although I had a similar incident about two months ago where the blood was maroon in color. I know that’s not a good sign which is why I scheduled the colonoscopy.

What color was the blood? That’s the most important part. If it was bright red, that’s good because it’s nothing serious. Probably an anal fissure which normally goes away on its own or you can treat it with stool softeners and prescribed ointment

I just went through this a few months ago. It's probably hemorrhoids. I had the same thing and my doctor diagnosed me with IBS after my colonoscopy but I haven't had any more issues. They told me to take stool softeners and drink more water.
