How often should be be checking newborn?

Question

So we are in the hospital right now. The baby is in the crib next to my husband and I. I can’t get out of bed. 
My husband feeds the baby and burps her and then lays her in the crib. 
She sleeps a solid two hours. 
The nurse comes in and she scolds my husband for not getting up to check on her. 
Why would we get up to check her every hour if she is sleeping soundly? We need sleep too...  am I doing something wrong?

I checked my babies every so often only because I’m paranoid and always made sure they were still breathing. 😕

Why would she scold him? If baby is sleeping let baby sleep!! Baby just went through a long journey and needs sleep like you! As long as the pediatrician says baby is developing great and on a good feeding schedule it should be fine. I was paranoid and checked my baby often because she had fluid she gagged up a lot.

I’m in the same boat but I’m at home. My baby is two weeks old today and she will sleep till 5-6 am. I usually try and check on her every two hours but I am TIRED. Last night I said screw it and I got the best sleep of my life.

That nurse sounds like a classic grade-A sanctamommy 🙄 you guys did nothing wrong and the baby was sound asleep. Why would anyone want to disturb a sound asleep and safely sleeping infant?!

When I was in the hospital, I felt like the nurses were a lil bit too extra and put so much pressure almost like a sancti mommy group of nurses, from waking up to 2 hours to making me feel bad that my 2 day old lost weight which I was told that it’s normal for a newborn to lose weight , so happy to leave that hospital

I don’t check my son because he fucking grunts ALL NIGHT LONG and yet he is sound asleep. Loudest fucking sleeper ever! Lol

I remember that after 4 days I couldn't wait to leave the hospital, mostly because every nurse had their own opinions about how often baby should be fed, and there was no consistent message.
One nurse encouraged me to get rest and actually offered to keep baby in nursery for a little bit, one nurse made me feel super guilty for not waking baby up every 2 hr. 
We also had a lot of issues with breastfeeding and the advice given from everyone was so different, but that is a whole different story

My husband scolded the nurse in the hospital cuz she kept giving him to me to feed, and we hadn’t slept in over 24 hours🤣 
Lookin back, I wish I could apologize to her cu she was actually helping lol
But no, I think if babies sleeping, let them sleep!! You’re fine!😉

Your not doing anything wrong... 2 hours is normal, you guys need rest too!
