Feed on demand?

Question

FTM .. My LO is 2 weeks should I still wake her every 3 or 4 hours if she doesnt wake on her own to eat or is it feed on demand at this point? She's eating about 2 oz of formula every feeding sometimes falls asleep before but I try to wake her to keep eating. If she falls asleep before the 2 oz should I just let her be and continue sleeping? Don't want to overfeed or underfeed her.

Our pediatrician said we only had to wake up our daughter for feedings until she was back up to her birth weight. She was born 6lbs 3oz and dropped to 5lbs 11oz. She had a doctors appt yesterday and was up to 7lbs 7oz!! So I have stopped waking her up but she ia pretty regular with waking up herself every 3 hours and is drinking 3oz at 3 weeks old

Answer

I probably wouldn’t wake to feed and I didn’t with my daughter. Unless there is a reason, such as not gaining weight. I wouldn’t think it is necessary.
