Sleeping on back...?

I cant remember but at what point are you supposed to stop sleeping on your back? The 2nd tri? I go to sleep on my side but keep waking up on my back at some point in the night.

I just asked my doctor about this a few days ago... she said try to stop when you hit the 2nd trimester and suggested a pregnancy pillow so it won’t let you turn onto your back. She also said try to sleep (in this order) left side, right side then back and don’t freak out if you wake up on your back. I’m 11 weeks 4 days and I’m going to get a pillow soon.

I believe it’s at 20 weeks that it can be dangerous to lay flat on a hard surface because your uterus is up high enough at that point and compresses major blood vessels if pushing down on them. But I don’t think that applies to a bed especially if you’re using a pillow cuz then you aren’t 100% flat

Advice in UK is 16 weeks. Think it's to do with the weight if it from that point can cause pressure

It’s fine to keep sleeping on your back, just don’t pull yourself up like a sit up, that gets bad for your abs as the baby gets bigger. If being on your back is causing you problems you’ll know and naturally shift onto your side, in a soft bed anyways it’s not an issue and they’re referring more to laying on your back on a hard surface, but even then they’re saying it might not be a risk in the way they thought and as long as you feel ok it’s fine.
