How did you decide??

A home birth is such a beautiful thing. My 2nd delivery was in a hospital. Drug free. With the most amazing nurse. It was rewarding and beautiful. I only wish I had that experience in a birthing center or home. However MS and Memphis (where i live now) does not have birthing centers, and to be honest... I'm afraid of the risk of a homebirth. I'm now pregnant with my 3rd and debating my options. My OB is wonderful. But I've always wanted a water birth.

If you are low risk you are statistically safer at a planned home birth than a hospital birth. Sometimes I've found learning more about the facts of home birth and hospital birth can help put fears to rest.

My second child was a water birth. It was really an amazing experience. And my fastest recovery. I recommend if you want to try it you should. It was my favorite birth by far.

I had a home water birth with my first little girl :) It was a wonderful experience for me and everything went so smoothly. I would do it again. The risks are much lower than a hospital birth :)

I decided on a home birth for my next kiddo (#2, currently 6 weeks pregnant) because I had a hospital birth with my daughter and it ended in trauma (I still suffer from ptsd from it), not being listened to, unwanted interventions which snowballed out of control and caused me to need an "emergency" cesarean. If I hadn't had the interventions which the hospital pushed on me, I would most likely had a healthy vaginal birth.

I am doing an HBAC because I want a new perspective and I want healing and empowerment. I want to be in control on my own turf.

I had no doubt whatsoever that I'd have a home birth. It is much safer and holds a much lower risk of unnecessary interventions if you are healthy and low risk. Check out Ina May's Guide to Childbirth - excellent book. Also Chris Kresser has some very good articles about this on his website - www.chriskresser.com 
Hospital birth is totally out of the question for me, especially since the ones in my area are trigger happy for unneeded c sections.
