Who’s been induced with an epidural? What should I expect? 🤰👶

Baby #2 coming tomorrow via induction. Last Friday doctor said I was dilated 2 cm, 75% effaced, soft cervix. Planning on an epidural like last time. (Kudos to the natural mamas, just know my limitations and it’s not for me.)
Can anyone share what to expect with induction with an epidural? Or starting off at a 2 and 75% effaced? 
Our first baby came spontaneously a day before his induction date (guess he got the memo it was time!). I had contractions for about 30 hours before we went in to have him, and labored in the hospital for another 8 hours. It was a tough delivery so 🤞 for an easier process this time.

I was sort of induced without technically being induced.. I’ll explain lol. 
Had some contractions that tapered off as we drove to the hospital to be checked (39+2) and to our surprise I was 4cm so they admitted me. But, since my contractions had gone MIA they started me on pitocin and broke my water. 
Pitocin was fine until it wasn’t. Initially I was good for about 2-3 hours, then they upped it and broke my water and I started to feel it more. It was actually bearable at that point but something in my gut told me to just ask for the epidural then, since I know it could potentially be a while if the anesthesiologist wasn’t on site or doing something else. Man - am I glad I did. Ironically, no sooner did I ask for it and it was like a switch flipped and I was practically clawing at the bed. 
Once I had the epidural in, it only took a short amount of time before I felt relief. Pain - gone, pressure - feel it strong. I’m sure you recall from your previous birth. Pitocin from what I’ve learned works wonders but absolutely means stronger (thus more painful) contractions.

I was induced with my first. They managed my pain well but I was not given my epidural until I had already been in labor for 24 hours, no sleep during this time, had been on petosin for about 10 hours. And as soon as they broke my water her heart rate started dropping from the petosin she was so stressed out she pooped and it came out when they broke my water. They then did an emergency c-section and I just wouldn’t ever go the petosin route again but overall nothing too scary happened, I had an amazing team of nurses and doctors that made me comfortable, I wish the same for you because it makes a big difference!

I got induced with my first and I asked for the epidural after I was 2CM and they broke my water. The pain was fine until they manually broke my water. It got real after that so I asked for it in fear that I would have to wait 30 mins but they care right away. I was able to relax while I dilated. I think you’ll be fine.

I was exactly the same as you, baby 2, being induced etc. I had the pessary and everything but nothing worked, eventually they put me on the Syntocinon drip. I wanted an epidural and they told me to let them know when. An hour in they had to take the drip off because I had one long, continuous contraction that just wouldn’t go off. I was in agony and begged for the epidural. They didn’t check how dilated I was because I’d only been in labour for an hour. I had to wait an hour for the epidural as the anaesthetist was busy, by the time she got to me and read me my rights (I barely heard any of it) I had been in labour 2hrs 15mins. She put the needle in, told me it would take 30mins to work. Suddenly I felt pressure and said I needed to push. My daughter was born 4 minutes later! My labour start to finish was 2hrs 30mins. My son’s labour (first baby) had been almost 25 hours with an hour of pushing! Just be prepared for how fast it can go and get the epidural as soon as you can if you know you want it! I wish I had asked sooner. In the end I had a completely natural labour which is definitely NOT what I had wanted 😂

I was induced 40+ 5 they gave me cytotec 2 times didn't work because I couldn't even tolerate the cervix check and drug wasn't working they suggested to put Cath to dilate cervix and the choice was fent or epidural at this point I was still 1cm because fent was fast acting drug and I knew I would want epi later on anyway I went with epi just so they can put the cath 45 min in I was dilated 8cm but the pushing part was hard looking back I think it had a lot to do with my epi because I didn't feel even the strongest contractions anyway if I go through this again I would take epi later on than when I was 1cm

Everyone has a different experience. So it’s hard to say what to expect. I was induced and had an epidural. I had a very long labor and it was a rough 3 days. Good luck and I hope you have a smooth delivery.

I was induced with mine. Inserted cydotek for 4 hours then cervadil. (Supposed to stay for 12 hours to start dilation) stayed in for 2.5 hours and I dilated 3 cm. Took the cervadil out and placed epidural. After that it was smooth sailing. I continued to progress on my own. Water broke around 3am. She was born at 6:20am. Only 18 hours total.
