Aftercare instructions for large tattoos?

I just got a fairly large thigh tattoo. It looks like this:

I just got it two days ago. I have been washing it with a mild antibacterial soap 2x a day, letting it air dry, only showering for 5 min a day, I sleep with the tattoo UNCOVERED after applying a thin layer of coconut oil, and applying a thin layer of coconut oil to it 3x a day. I haven’t recovered it since the initial covering when I first got my tattoo. Is what I’m doing good or is this a recipe for disaster? The internet is telling me so many different things and I’m just so confused.

You shouldnt be using coconut oil... Everything else youre doing is good just use aquaphor instead of oil. Your artist shouldve given you instructions before you left the shop lol

I just got a new one two weeks ago and I was informed to use aquaphor! Never coconut oil. I’ve used aquaphor for everyone of my tattoos and it helps them heal faster.

After you wash it which should be 3 times a day,apply a thin layer of aquaphor. 
Once it starts peeling ,after each wash apply a thin layer of unscented lotion

I have a fairly large tattoo in the same area as yours. My tattoo artist told me to just wash it with antibacterial soap and use unscented lotion, do not pick at it or scratch it when it starts to itch and mine healed beautifully. If you are at all concerned about what products you are using you can always call your tattoo artist and ask for advice

I used antibacterial liquid soap and warm water to wash mine (3x a day) then pat dry with a cloth after I put Neosporin and let it breath. Don’t cover it when you sleep and when it starts to peel don’t scratch it bc you can peel off some parts of the tattoo ink, so just slap It that’s what i did

Use Bepanthon nappy rash cream morning and night and then sleep in something loose and dark colours so that you don’t stain your sheets with the ink coming out as it heals. Just don’t itch it or pick it. Tattoo looks great btw 🙂
