Do you have to actively try to get your baby to nap?

I envy all you have magical babies that fall asleep on their own. It takes walking, swaying, rocking, bouncing for my little one to nap. And then I can’t put her down either because she will wake up instantly. (Yes she’s swaddled, yes I’ve tried a bouncer and rock and play... she will only sleep in someone’s arms). I’m so ready for her to  be able to self soothe and I can begin to let her cry. This momma is exhausted

She’s 8 weeks old. We don’t have a routine yet. So she falls asleep when she’s tired. 
She goes to sleep between 8-10 every night. That’s about as routine as we get

Depends on the day. Sometimes I just lay her down and she sleeps instantly. Other days I need to hold her

My baby is 9 weeks today and it’s as if she doesn’t want to fall asleep incase she misses what’s going on! She’ll have a play on my lap, a kick about on her play mat a feed if due, more playtime gets herself over tired and I’m rocking for a good half an hour to get her to sleep. If I dare try before she will scream the house down!😆 I try and keep her stimulated by playing with her a lot between naps so when she is asleep she’s asleep for a good hour or so as I can get some housework done!
