Paying kids for chores?

I just don’t believe in paying my kids for things they should be doing. But I want to start my kids with chore charts that need to be completed weekly.  But what do you reward with after the week? 
I’m stumped!

Why give your dog a treat if he sits? When you ask? Because it encourages him.
That’s why people give their kids pocket money. It’s a good way to teach about money management, too.

Kids should do chores because they're part of the family, not for money... however you can give them optional extra chores with choices of more time on the internet/video games/with friends etc.. and even money if that's what they choose but only for the optional extra chores.

My mom pays me for chores. You should pay your kids for chores because they will actually want to do them.

We were both raised with being given money for chores, and will be doing the same for our son. 
By the time we graduated highschool, we both had 5k in savings from getting chore money. It was never anything crazy. His parents did like $1 a chore, and he had the option to take it or “hide it”, mine did $.25 and matched every quarter I got and put it in a savings account.

I would reward them with the non active activities they want to do like video games and TV time.

My mom did it because I was going out a lot and couldn’t get a job at the time, so anytime I needed money I would do chores

Extra tv time, a treat of some sort (like ice cream or candy), or even take them to a dollar store and have them pick a toy

We're not going to pay our kids for chores because we expect them to do some things. We will be paying them to do extra chores that they don't regularly do, like vaccuuming the cars out or folding their siblings laundry.

Maybe go out for ice cream or do something fun with them. I’m not sure what I’ll do yet since my oldest is only two. I’m thinking I’ll have certain chores they have to do before they do anything else, like pick up toys, make theirs beds, etc. then other chores they could do if they want extra money, like cleaning the bathroom or dusting.

Maybe each kid gets a turn at picking out a restaurant to eat out at? Or an extra privilege like 30 more minutes of tv time or having a friend stay over? It really depends on the age of the kids I guess. I personally probably will give my kids an allowance. I think it will teach them to work for their money and I’ll be able to have something to work with when teaching them about saving and budgeting.
