Is it possible to ovulate on days 8 or 9?

I'm starting to wonder if I ovulate super early and that's why we keep missing the window. Tried ovulation tests this month but didnt start them until day 10 of 28. All have been negative and according to the AP I'm supposed to ovulate today.

If your cycles are normally 28 days then you're likely to ovulate anywhere between cd12-18. With opk's it's really easy to miss the surge and not get a positive opk - doesn't necessarily mean you're not ovulating just means you're missing the surge. As long as you're having regular sex throughout you won't miss the opportunity.
Make sure you're following your test instructions firstly - sounds silly but a lot of women don't and assume the opk's should be taken with first morning pee when actually the majority of opk's tell you not to use first morning pee. General rule of thumb with strip test opk's is to take them between 11am and 6pm making sure that you've limited your drinks and bathroom breaks for 2-3 hours beforehand. Also make sure to allow the test 10 minutes to process - again, they're not like pregnancy tests, these things actually need the 10 minutes. Lots of women find their optimum time for taking opk's is around 2pm. Personally 4.30pm has always worked best for me.
If you're unsure of your ovulation day or you've on,y just started using opk's then I recommend taking them from the day after your period ends - make sure you pick a time and then stick to that time each day. As the test line starts to get darker then start taking 2 tests a day just to make sure you don't miss the surge. Once you get your positive (test line as dark or darker than the control) you're expected to ovulate 12-36 hours later.
Obviously yes you could ovulate on cd8/9 but if you did then your cycle length would be shorter than 28 days. The luteal phase is a normally between 10-16 days long (this is the amount of days between ovulation and the first day of your next cycle) so ovulating on cd 8 for example your period could be due between cd 18 and cd 24.

The app just predicts when you ovulate and can't tell when you actually are. As for not getting a positive spike on tests, I think you should speak with a doctor about that. Do you get periods regularly?
