So should I go to homecoming alone or no?

So I asked the only guy I would want to go with and he said no, but like we are really good friends and stuff and he said he doesn’t want to go to homecoming but I really think he should since he’s dying of cancer and I think it would be a lot of fun. Also I do have a huge crush on him I have for over a year now and idk what to do.... like no one is going to ask me and it’s currently 9/7 and hoco is on 10/13 so I still have time, but what should I do?
