Anal???

I've heard so many horror stories about anal and my boyfriend and I have tried it but it's too painful and he hardly gets in, but I think part of it is my anxiety about the stories. We want to keep trying I'm just worried about the stories I've heard about not being able to control your bowel movements, him getting poop on him, etc. Can anyone clear these up or tell me something positive about it??
