Anyone else terrified of dying from complications?

I had labor complications with my daughter that could have cost me my life. I’m terrified to give birth again and as labor approaches I feel myself getting ancy about it. *breath in* *breath out*

I feel like it is rare to have life threatening complications and because you have already had them you probably won't have them again

I was scared but nothing prepared me for the major complications I had with my first. I almost died. I had preeclampsia (high blood pressure coupled with major swelling) and bled out during my c-section, which caused me to go into shock and also gave me tachycardia. I was shaking so bad after my c-section I couldn’t even hold my baby for hours afterward. My incision also kept bleeding and I ended up in ICU. It was very scary time. I was so scared something would go wrong with my second delivery and everything went smoothly and I’m so grateful for that. Even my recovery was a breeze in comparison. So now with baby #3 I feel nervous, but certainly not as scared as the first or second time around.

The way I look at it is, that everything happens for a reason, it's rare to die during pregnancy especially these days... But if i'm supposed to die during labor and my baby is to grow up without a mother than that's what's going to happen, and that's what his life journey will entail, dying seems scary, but knowing that I got to actually have a baby than die with no flesh and blood of my own makes me feel at peace... But anyway I try not to think about it, because it's unlikely.

Im not worried at all because I read so many things about labors but my husband is scared for me lol

My mom was allergic to the epidural they gave her when she had me, so I was an emergency csection. She survived thankfully, but she was dying on the table for a hot minute. I've been told it would be likely I have that same allergy, not like I really want a needle pushed in my spine anyway, but that really started my aversion to the thought of ever having an epidural.

I had shoulder dystocia with my first and I’m starting to panic about it with this baby as boys tend to be a bit bigger and she was only 7lbs 1/4 oz 😬 like I know people who’s children come home with fractured shoulders and even can have to amputate the arm so I’m panicking a bit but I’ll chat with my midwives about it the closer the date comes
