Genetic testing?

I’ve opted out for genetic testing. I would be an anxious mess knowing I MIGHT have a chance of my baby having something. I know others are the opposite and need to know in order to feel at bay. I’d love to see what everyone’s doing!

For me, it's about preparing.  If the tests come back that my child has a possible something I want to educate myself as much as possible about it first so I'm prepared.  But  I understand not wanting to know too!

I have worked with students who had severe disorders.  Many of these kids have short lives, constant pain/discomfort, 24/7 nursing, frequent hospitalization, and challenges with every aspect of their lives.  Depending on the condition, I would want to be able to consider termination.  I already have a child who has autism and could not care for another child with significant needs.

My doctor said that it's best to teat that way if something is wrong they can have speciality doctors on standby and even have her (my wife) go to different hospital if needed. I didn't do it with my first two pregnancies for the same reason. But when my doctor mentioned that, I realized that just KNOWING wasn't the only reason to do it. Preparing for my baby and her safety is why we decided to do it this pregnancy.

I also chose not to do the early testing, it will not change how I feel about my child and most of the time you can tell at the 20 week appointment.  My friend had found out early that her daughter had downs syndrome and she said it was the worst feeling knowing she couldn't do anything except worry, she felt like she missed out on what should have been the happy times celebrating her milestones.

I am low risk but I  will because my first two babies had a soft marker for Down syndrome so the doc had me do genetic testing to see what the probability was they they might actually have it. Each time it said none so it put me at ease instead of stressing that they had something that might indicate Down syndrome on their anatomy scans. 
I will do it before I have my anatomy scan so I don’t have to wait and know if this baby has a soft marker

I am going to see how expensive it is. I dont really want to know and my husbands prefers not to do it but if the insurance covers it I will do it.

I’m having it done. I have a genetic gain so my doctor suggested I have the most in depth one done even tho insurance doesn’t cover it just so I’m aware of something is wrong I can prepare myself for it. My brothers autistic and was born with cleft lip and palate and heart murmurs and the doctors never caught it on ultrasounds or any testing so when he was born we were all in shock and my mom was so upset that none of it was caught cause none of us were prepared for that. I’m praying for a healthy baby but I know my chances and I wanna be as prepared as I can be.

Already did the blood draw for it a couple days ago so will find out results in the next few days. Personally I wanted to do it to be prepared if something is wrong. Either way, it’s not going to change how I feel about the baby, just want to be ready. Also, finding out the gender is an added bonus🤗
