Baby shower 🤢🤯🤬😭

This is our first child and grand baby on both parents sides. We have a total of 200 guest including family, friends and coworkers. My shower is in 4 weeks and I’m due in dec.

My friend offered to throw me a baby shower. I was told later she could only finance a certain amount and she would host it. However, I would have to pay for the rest; the venue she book, the food. Her costs would be with decorations.

My friend has a very busy schedule and i have been doing all the work. She checks in twice a week and gets mad when I haven’t accomplished much. I believe she irritated because she was totally in planning my shower but got thrown off how indecisive I was a month ago. I was more concerned about a venue not a theme or a taco bar. She was trying to plan a baby shower in two weeks!

I just discovered the venue does not allow alcohol. (She did not ask about alcohol upon booking and agreeing with a contract)Which is upsetting. So I’m stuck with these venue. I have no idea how to entertain people for 6 hours with finger food and no wine. ( Afro-Latino/Italian family) I feel like with amount people I’m inviting is just rude not to feed them actual food. I considered catering vs cooking food myself. Either way I’m going to 💵💰💰

I was considering using this venue for friends and co workers. I would pay to only to reserve a 3 hour limit instead of 6 and 50 people instead of 150. It would cut my costs and save us money for the baby. Our family shower could be at family’s or even a park (which allows alcohol and is 80$ for a whole day!) It would be family so it would be a potluck/ bbq. I tried to talk to my mama about these frustrations but offended her because “ I was disinviting her”.

I’m not expecting people to just buy me gifts. I just want to entertain my guests and provide a good time. I’m stressing and crying over this. I’m planning everything. I just want to give up and say fuck this baby shower.
