Crochet basics?

Can anyone tell me what items I should buy to start of learning how to crochet? Anything ranging from what hooks, yarn and also what brands are good (I will be purchasing from Michaels) thanks!

Www.garnstudio.com has a lot of videos and patterns. YouTube has a lot of videos too.
Also be a bit critical about what type of yarn you use to different projects. Acrylics might feel supesoft and warm, but if it gets wet it gets all cold and sweaty, also highly flammable. So especially if you are knitting or crocheting for babies or kids I would go for merino wool or cotton.

Caron simply soft is my fave yarn!! Sign up for michaels emails. There’s always coupons in them. For hooks, all projects are different size hooks so get one of the hook packs with all different sizes. Also, amazing free patterns on ravelry.com. My go to site.
