Thoughts on controlled CIO method??

If I know my child has been fed & got full, been changed & was s completely dry, has been fully burped & he’s still crying. Then I start going down the list of possibilities. I check his temp, if it’s good I’ll check to see if he’s chewing / slobbering on things (to see if his teeth are bothering him from teething). I’ll pay attention to the amount of gas he passes to determine if he’s got gas. I’ll check to see if he hurt himself in anyway (like throwing his toys around & bumping his head). I’ll check to see the last time he had a nap to see if he could be tired. I’ll check every possible reason for my child’s need to be crying. So far I have always found out their was in fact a reason for his crying. I’m a firm believer in if you have done everything you possibly could & your child is still crying...then maybe he just wants attention. Sometimes my son just wants held. I pick him up & he’s fine. I am not a believer in letting your child cry without checking every possible reason first. I can almost guarantee their must be something going on with them.

I wouldn’t go to the ‘abuse’ extreme, for SURE! Some people have no choice, as mom & dad both work.
I choose to not do so, and do not personally think it’s a good thing, but to each their own. Def not ABUSE.

We tried other methods of sleep training. My daughter is VERY clingy to me because my husband was deployed for most of her first (and second) years of life. She’s also always been a SUPER light sleeper. So when I tried any other method she would get frantic. I was getting exhausted and nothing was working. Finally did the extinction method. First night was terrible. And that was it. She just got it after that. So I don’t regret it for a second.
