Tips for baby’s first cold?

Well, we made it almost a year without having a cold but when my son decided to get one, he decided to get one big time. He’s very congested with a runny nose and cough. Any tips on getting him through this?

Our little man had a bad cold a few months back and using the bulb to get mucus out after sitting in a steamy bathroom (we put one drop of tea tree oil on the shower floor and turned it on hot) worked wonders. We also dissolved some vapour rub into hot water and put the bowl near his bed which helped him keep clear enough to sleep.

Use the suction bulb for mucus, make a big bowl of peppermint tea really strong and steaming just for him to breathe over, it will help his congestion. Nurse often, if you’re nursing. He can also drink some mild teas with lemon, which also helps to thin out congestion. My daughter loves chamomile with lemon.
