I’ve been seeing this question a lot lately, and I used to think about it a few years ago as well. I plan on asking my gynecologist at my next appointment just to see what he says 😬 But we all know the truth 😉

STDs have existed for thousands of years and they definitely mutate over time. There is a lot of evidence that shows that there may be a link between animals and humans since there are a number of animals that also have them. It's just pretty rare for an animal to have a disease and then transmit it rather than just being a carrier. A lot of people can also be asymptomatic carriers, so it's important to not just rely on symptoms to tell you when to get checked.
