Engagement rings!

Ladies I need your advice. My boyfriend has been talking Non-Stop about us getting engaged. I want to marry him but the cost for engagement rings is ridiculous. Of course I would love a real diamond but we can't afford one. How do you feel about a fake Dimond to get the look of the ring you want? Do any of you have fake diamond engagement rings that you're absolutely in love with? I don't want to hurt his feelings by him choosing a ring that I don't like and I'm wondering if getting the style and shape and size of a fake diamond engagement ring is the way to go.
