When did your doctor start checking your cervix?

I'm at 36 weeks, and my doctor hasn't checked my cervix, and hasn't checked to see if I'm dilated or effaced.🤔
The last thing I was tested for was Group B Strep.🤷🏻‍♀️

I don’t think it’s worth messing with your cervix when the information really won’t lead to anything. You could be dilated/effaced for weeks without any progress, or you could go from nothing to full blown labor in a matter of hours.
Unless there is a medical reason, I won’t be having cervix checks.

Mine doesn't do it until 39 weeks, unless there's reason to believe you're in labor, because she feels it's pointless to know if you're dilated/effaced or not because you can be dilated for many weeks and checking increases risk of infection

My dr gave me the option at 36 weeks but I was in a rush so I declined until 37 weeks. It’s more of an optional thing. It really won’t tell you much. Some people progress quickly and others can go days being dilated already

My midwife first checked me at 38 weeks.

My doctor said he won’t check it until 38-39 weeks and only if he feels it’s necessary. I’ve heard it sucks anyway so I don’t really care to have it checked until I’m in labour!

38 weeks I was checked for the first time and it was because I asked.

I got checked at triage at 33 weeks because of consistent contractions and they needed to make sure I wasn’t progressing- long, closed, super posterior. About a week and a half later my doctor rechecked me at my appointment because the contractions continued off and on at home and I was anterior, completely thinned out, and very soft just no dilation yet. She had me go on modified bedrest as to not irritate my cervix excessively and try to keep this nugget in until induction next week. I have another appointment today and I doubt they’ll do another check because they already know the contractions caused cervical changes but I haven’t gone into active labor yet and we only have less than a week before induction but we’ll see. They only check early if there’s a medical reason to, from my personal experience.
