Is it okay to date a gang member? /:

I’m 19, and my boyfriend is 22. We’ve only been dating for a little bit- like 2 weeks. He treats me so amazing, and is so sweet to me. I have so much going for myself, and I know my parents would disapprove of the fact that he’s in a gang.. but I look at it like he’s so much better than that. I’m in college, going to school to be a doctor. Will our relationship even work out considering we’re on two totally different pages in life? I eventually hope to help him get out of the street life and open up a business. He graduated HS and is extremely smart but got into the gang to have some form of brotherhood- like a family because his family didn’t treat him the best and this was three years ago and now he’s like... stuck. It’s been short but he treats me better than pretty much any other man has. He listens when I tell him things and I don’t want to leave him because it’ll be just like all the other loss he’s had.. he says I make him happy and he’s happier with me than without but I don’t know if it’s truly for me in the long run to stay with him. What does this mean for our future children? Is he a good father figure if he’s great in all aspects but yet he’s in a big gang?
