1 or 2 embryos?

I had a failed FET with a single embryo transfer. I’m 32. This time around doctor is giving us the choice of 1 or 2 embryos to transfer. Embryos are not PGS tested. What would you do?

I was just wrestling with this decision too. I have had two prior failed FETs with one embryo and had to figure out what to do for our third attempt. I had such a hard time deciding because of all of the risks associated with multiples, but I did end up transferring two just on Monday. What ended up helping me make the decision is looking at the odds of issues with multiples and talking to OBs about what issues they see. Of course there are issues and if I do get pregnant with multiples I am hoping everything will be fine, but the majority of the time things to end up fine.

I'm 31 and about to start my first FET. We're only allowed to transfer one embryo but was told if it failed we'd have the option of two embryos next time. I think I'd go with two but that's my own personal preference as I've got twins nieces who I adore and have secretly always hoped I'd have twins too.

My REI told me that it doesn’t increase success significantly, but does increase the chance of multiples.  We transferred one, but I did PGS.  Now I’m 8 weeks pregnant!  Good luck!

If it’s your choice but they don’t suspect any egg quality issues, I would still choose 1. You are young too.

The risks of multiples far out way the MAYBE 1% increase in success rate.  I'd stick to 1 embryo.
