Numbing for stitches?

I'm planning an all natural birth but I've heard from many friends the stitches afterward are HORRIBLE. I'm wondering if any of you were able to get novicaine or some other sort of numbing agent just for your stitches?

I had numbing before getting my stitches (can't remember what kind) but I still felt every.single.stitch. I had second degree tearing and was uncomfortable for weeks. Not necessarily in pain, but just felt stitched up, if that makes any sense?

I would suggest being prepared for the worst and hope for the best!

Make padsicles, get some flexible ice packs, remember to bring the peri bottle home from the hospital (it will be your best friend!) and have a comfortable chair to sit in.

I sat on my boppi pillow rather than using it for breastfeeding. I also used alcohol free witch hazel to sooth hemmroids and my stitches.

Do massages to stretch the area before birth or even when you first go into labor. I'm having my 8th baby next month. When I did massage I didn't tear. I needed a couple stitches a couple times. They did numb me before stitching, I don't know what they used exactly. All natural births. I even delivered 4 at home because they came too fast. They were all big babies too. 8.5 pounds-over 10.5 pounds. Try the massages. Listen to your body while in labor. Let your body tell you when to push so you will have less tearing even if you do tear.

I had a numbing shot after my natural delivery. I didn't feel anything while they were stitching me up. I could feel some tugging but it just fealt weird, not painful. And they were down there for a while. They wouldn't tell me how many stitches I got, I think that might mean a lot and they didn't want to scare me.

I also had to get a catheter for the stitches BC they were so close to my uretha.

When I had my daughter I ripped down and I ripped on the inside. They asked if I wanted a numb I said no. I pushed a baby out my vag and with no meds. I told them to just get it over with. Plus I only felt the burn left over from the rip. I felt the needle and them tugging on the string or whatever it was. You can always ask your doc or nurse before and make up Ur mind then. They might give you choices idk. 
Just stay strong. After birth I felt like I could break a bone and be fine.
