So I recently started using Nuvaring as my birth control. My doctor suggested it because my body reacts very badly to other birth controls and wanted me to try this. It’s partly for pregnancy prevention, but it’s also because I am very prone to growing cysts and being on birth control tends to help the pain.

Anyway. I just got them today and I put one in right away. I haven’t gotten my period yet this month, and I put the ring in hoping that would stop it from coming. My periods are VERY painful and if I can prevent one from coming or make it lighter, I’ll do it. So does putting the Nuvaring in before your period stop it from coming? And if I do get my period, how long do they usually last on Nuvaring? What are some other symptoms I should watch out for?
