Birth control period

So I start birth control last month before I was supposed to start my period and instead of taking the placebo pills I skipped and started a new pack because I didn’t want to start my period just yet due to sports. I’ve been having break through bleeding for like a week now so should I just take the placebo pills ? And if I do how long will my period last?
