Do You Believe in Breastfeeding in Public?

I breastfeed whenever and wherever baby is hungry. I do use a cover in public though. 
Where I live, most buildings have a feeding and changing room so that’s always helpful too.

It’s to feel a baby. If anyone ever shames a mom for doing that I’ll walk up to them and ask where the food is they’ll be providing for the child since they don’t want the mother to do it.
And I don’t care about nipples. Cover if you want, don’t cover if you don’t care. In Canada women can go topless anywhere men can do a nipple isn’t an issue.

I think it's fine to breastfeed in public. I just dont get the need that some women have to not cover their boob. I didnt cover my baby, but I would always put something to cover my boob. That being said, if I ever saw a mom being shamed for breastfeeding in public (even tho she had her boob out) I would be the first to defend her.

I believe in in breastfeeding in public. It’s something that sometimes needs to be done. I mean engorged breasts hurt like a MF. And there is no on/off switch for it. 
I was working a 4 hour shift the other day just to help out at Earthbound in the mall and some lady outside the store had a crying baby in her arms. My boobs instantly started leaking and producing more milk. Within 30 minutes my boobs felt as if they were about to burst, and I still had 2 and a half hours till I got to go home. I also emptied them (pumped) just before I left the house for work. I didn’t expect the baby situation to happen. 
Things like this can happen. Or if you’re out with baby and he/she starts crying for food you gotta relieve that pressure or you’re going to be in pain. And it doesn’t even have to be baby’s cries that trigger it. At first I was pumping every hour on the hour to relieve pressure. This was before I was in sync with my baby’s feeding schedule and my milk was coming in really good. I had doctor’s appointments to go to for both me and baby. And everyone knows some doctor’s appointments can take FOREVER. So what’s a mama to do? 
Also, letting yourself be engorged all of the time can hinder milk production in the long run. It did mine, because I was (still am) too embarrassed to breastfeed in public. I wish I could, but I’m afraid of those who judge. So I pump before I leave home and deal with the pain later. I’ve cried several different times driving home because the pain gets so intense. My milk isn’t coming in like it used to and I’m struggling to keep it up now. I’ll be struggling even more when I go back to work after my leave is over (my main job). 
And as far as taking my pump everywhere I go?...I can’t because it is electric. I have to have a way to plug it into an outlet before using it. So that’s not always an option. I got it for free from a good friend. And I can’t afford to be buying battery operated ones or anything. It just doesn’t call for it in the budget. That’s another reason I chose to breastfeed. It’s free milk. I can’t afford formula, so breast is best for my budget. 
Taking into consideration of these things and what I go through myself, seeing someone breastfeeding in public doesn’t bother me at all. Because I KNOW why they may be doing it. It may not be JUST for baby. Mama benefits from it too. 
Speaking of mama benefitting from breastfeeding... I just want to say that I absolutely don’t do it just for my baby. I do it for me as well. Weight loss, bleeding less after birth, uterus goes back to pre pregnancy size much faster, the bonding time shared with baby, the milk is free, the poops don’t smell as bad as a baby who is formula fed, the feeling knowing baby is getting good quality milk made just for them, and the feeling of being important to someone who depends on your care.

I don’t care about women feeding their babies in public, and I get that some babies won’t BF with a cover on. But I don’t like it when women do it to provoke others or prove their point (not often, but it does happen).
