Breastfeeding in the workplace battle WON

So my little sister just came back to work a little over a month ago and has been pumping with no interruptions or anybody complaining about it . We both work at Walmart, my sisters a cashier, and I’m a certified pharmacy technician in our Walmart pharmacy. Well recently our sister in laws sister began to work there as her supervisor, and she had a problem with how long my sister was pumping and accused her of abusing her pumping privileges. Well I , being the momma bear big sister I am, printed out the policy and handed it to all the csms which really set this girl off . Anyways the supervisor went to the assistant manager to complain about my sister. The assistant manager ( who is also pumping because she just had a baby) pulled my sister into the office and told her she was pumping for too long and even asked her if she was pumping both breast’s at a time or just one ??? Like how is that anybody’s business? Once my sister told her she only pumps one at a time , the assistant manager suggested she get a double breast pump.

Both my sister and I knew this was against the law . I guess I should add that I also just had a baby so I pump as well. I have no problems with my supervisor or coworkers !

So we went to speak to the store manager, he is a man so we were a little doubtful.

Turns out our store manager’s wife breastfeed too and had problems pumping and having let Downs. He even follows a breastfeeding group on Facebook!! He was so understanding and was 100% pro breastfeeding !!! He told my sister that it is NO ONES business what she does when she pumps and that everybody who said something to her is ill informed . He had a talk with everybody and now my sister and I gave everyone a friendly grin and will take our time pumping.

So sad that this is even an issue but we are grateful to have such an amazing store manager !!!!

I know these battles sometimes end badly for us Mother’s , but this breastfeeding win feels amazing !!
