Is it weird to make a GoFundMe page for a deposit for a rental home?

I'm just curious. My friend made a GoFundMe page yesterday for $2,000 for a deposit for a rental home. They want to move out of their apartment. I love her to death but I could help but feel that's a little strange. I mean I get deposits are usually quite a chunk of change but I've never even though of asking people to donate money to me so I can pay it rather than just save it myself....? Idk....🤷‍♀️ to each their own I suppose

I don't think that's okay, GoFundMe is for people who truly need help with money, not just wanting to move. If they need $2,000 then they should work more until they have it. If they don't even have money to move how can they even afford to live there?

Honestly i feel like its kinda trashy! Shes an adult, thats a normal.adult responsability. I feel like gofundme is for unexpected medical expenses and whatnot

I’m gonna go make a GoFundMe for a meal at McDonald’s because apparently that’s a thing now 🙄 I kid you not, someone was begging on the internet for people to buy her food because she was a “broke college kid”. There are some things that GFM is okay for. But a rental house? No. How are they expecting to pay for it afterwards? Ask people on the internet for that too?🤦🏻‍♀️
