My son will be 2 in December and I’ve been thinking more about when he should/can sleep with a pillow and loose blankets. He currently sleeps in only a sleep sack. When he starts sleeping with a pillow is there a special kind for toddlers or will any pillow do? Suggestions? Any knowledge on the subject will be appreciated!

My sons been sleeping with two pillows and a loose blanket since he was 8 months old. I think as long as they are able to move their bodies good to prevent themselves from suffocating, it’s okay.

18m-2years seems to be the recommendation for pillows and such. 
They do make toddler sized pillows. We just went with a normal sized vmbut thin one to not prop his head up too much. You still want neck inline with the spine.

It is parent discretion after one year. Check your crib manual because some say do not add anything.

My son has always slept with a blanket. But as far as a pillow goes probably when he gets his toddler bed at about 18 months.

Soon as my boys hit 12months old they both slept with a toddler quilt and a toddler pillow. My youngest is 3 and since he was 2yrs he’s slept in a double bed with a double light weight quilt and a normal adult pillow. 😊

My son sleeps with a pillow, he is 9 months. He runs warm so he hates blankets. But when winter comes ill give him one.

My son is 2 and has had a pillow for a few months. He absolutely loves it. They make toddler-sized pillows and that’s what I got so it fits his toddler bed better (and leaves room for the stuffed zoo he insists must be in the bed at all times). He’s had a blanket since he turned 1 but he doesn’t use it. He likes the routine of me tucking him in but as soon as I leave he rolls around to get it off.

At this point you can introduce those items. He may not be interested though. My 3 year old still sleeps in a sleep sack and she's not interested in a pillow.
