Does milk come out of only the nipples, or areolae too?

I saw this on someone’s help post and I’m honestly so confused. I wanted to say something there but was afraid of starting an argument.

As you can see, milk flows out the NIPPLE. The compressing and decompressing of the areola (dark area surrounding the nipple) is what causes milk expression, perhaps that’s what the other commenter meant when she said it comes out of the areola. But the literal holes that the milk comes out of are all on the nipple.

For me I breastfeed and there are tiny holes in the nipple , a lot of them and your milk comes out of the little whole.. Im my 9 months of breastfeeding I've never had milk come out of my areola

I’ve always had what I thought were zits on my areolas. NOPE. They’re milk ducts. Streams of milk comes out as if I wasn’t sticky enough. I’m probably a freak though 🙂

Milk only comes out of nipple tissue, but sometimes that tissue can be found on the areola. My left breast is this way

It comes both I've breastfed 4 babies. That's why you need that perfect latch.
