Birth control and (some) men

Okay ladies I have a story to tell. I’m in college and am taking a World Religions course. Well, we were talking about Christianity and ended up talking about sins which led to abortions. Very controversial topic, but it was actually a calm discussion.

Then one guy said “if you don’t want kids, then you need to be on birth control”. Then this lady behind me (in her 30s) says “Birth control isn’t a need, so it shouldn’t be covered by insurance.” We’ll, the class erupted after that because you know BC helps with endometriosis, acne, PCOS. Etc. Anyways.

My professor is a male with two sons and a wife. He’s in his late 50s. And he goes “I agree it shouldn’t be covered by insurance. It’s not THAT expensive.” Well, this one girl argues a little with him saying that with her insurance she pays $30/mo. So then the professor says that it must be $40/mo then. Every female on birth control ERUPTED. Went around the class saying how much it is per month for each woman. The male students and the professor were STUNNED. “How can thirty pills be so expensive?” “They’re a necessity to some women.” “You mean if you don’t have insurance you could pay over $100/mo every month?”

This man, with a WIFE had NO idea about the cost of birth control without insurance. The males in the class that didn’t already know that were in shock.

Now, that being said, how many men REALLY know the cost of birth control or Plan B? They just assume it’s around the same price as condoms, since they’re also a form of birth control. It’s actually sad.

I just thought I would share this. I personally didn’t realize that some men were totally oblivious to it. And honestly, they shouldn’t be. It should be known knowledge to EVERYONE, but for some reason it’s not. It honestly amazed me how shocked most were.
