Having a baby before marriage?

I don't like or dislike the idea of marriage. To me it is not necessary to have a family. To my boyfriend, he likes the idea that one day we will be married, in the very very distant future. We are getting a lot of heat from his and my family about it. Does anyone agree with us? Does anyone prefer the old way? We are not pregnant but plan to be.

I'm tired of hearing opinions from girls saying they're "old fashion", I'm 33 and thought in my 20s I'd get married have have children, sometimes it doesn't work that way... Id rather have a child than get married first, the order doesn't matter to me at all, and life is too short to wait. If marriage doesn't work out, you have to waste money on court fees/lawyer fees when that money could go towards a child's education.

The way I see it, marriage is only a piece of paper. If you're both equally in love, go for it. You wanna get married a few years later? That's great. Don't let other people's opinions influence YOUR happiness.

I was married before and my husband passed away and I'm pregnant now with my fiancé baby and I'm just not ready to get married again but I really wanted a baby. I'm grown, pay my own mortgage, bills, and own two cars and I felt like another child would complete me so I went for it. It's not the old days anymore 😊

4 months along with my first. Although it wasn't planned, marriage isn't in the cards right now for my boyfriend and I. As long as you two are happy, don't let anyone else take that joy away from you! Children are a blessing married or not!:)

Its your choice baby will probably carry your name if your not married unless you choose to have the baby take dads name. It might raise ? In the future like your child may ? Why he/she has a different last name then you/dad. But I agree its totally up to you.

To me it doesn't matter. When you are with someone and have a solid relationship, it shouldn't matter. My fiancé and I were together for 4.5 years, have a house together, dogs, cats and work full time and started TTC. Just after our 5 year anniversary, he proposed to me and the following month we found out we're expecting. We are getting married in August 2016....so that's after our baby girl is here. We are happy, and it doesn't matter to us which way things happened. It's another commitment if your actively trying in my mind.

We got pregnant before we were married (baby was a surprise), but we chose to get married while we were pregnant as it was important to me to have the same last name as my child. And we knew it would be easier to plan a wedding before family expenses came up rather than after so we opted to marry sooner than later. Personal choice though. We always knew we wanted to get married baby just sped things up!

I got pregnant at 18 while in high school graduated and turned 19 2 months after my son was born and I just turned 20 one month before my daughter is due (next month). I've been with my bf for 5 years and we are not married yet but have 2 kids together. We plan on getting married but not for at least another 5-6 years. It's absolutely up to you what you want to do. His mom keeps pressuring us to get married too and I keep telling her it will happen when we are ready. I personally don't think that having a baby before marriage is a bad thing.

Me and my bf are in the same boat we have been trying for a baby and we do plan on getting married next year. I just wanna go ahead and start trying because I have pcos I want to get help now and start trying now before it gets to where I can't or too old for my body to have kids.
