Looking forward to going back to work?

Question

Is anyone else looking forward to going back to work? I love my daughter so much but I am not cut out to be a stay at home mom. I literally count down the hours until my husband gets home from work. I’m bored and exhausted. I feel extremely guilty for feeling like this but really think I’ll be a better mom once I’m working again.

If I was stuck at home all day I would probably feel like that. But I’ve got some great mom groups and live in a pretty fun city with lots of baby oriented activities so it’s pretty fun

Nope, I’m right there with you. I actually gave up my career to be a stay at home mom and am now looking into going back. I feel like I’m losing my sanity being at home 24/7. I’m hoping by the time my LO is 6 months I can be back to work, at least part time.

I went back part time at 5 weeks, and it’s been so nice. My shifts are nice and short, and they are after my husband gets home, so my kiddos are with daddy which makes it easy to leave for a bit. I coach gymnastics, so 4-5 hours out of the house at a time is nice:) I’m always happy to come home feeling a little refreshed (mentally, anyway....physically I’m exhausted because I mom all day, and then do a physically demanding job). There’s nothing wrong with wanting to go back to work! Staying home can be difficult at times...

I have been a sahm for a few years now and I’m counting down the days too until kindergarten lol because that’s when we can afford child care (after care)  I have so many friends that wish they were stay at home moms... I told them if they watch my kids I’ll go to work for them lol

I think the only reason I’m NOT looking forward to going back is because my job is super demanding and my 40 hr work week easily turns into 60 with being on call 24/7. I’m not looking forward to the lack of a work-life balance. If I had a job I didn’t have to take home with me, id probably be looking forward to going back.

I know I could not be a stay at home mom. In the ideal world I would love to be part time, maybe work two or three days a week and be home the rest of the week! Unfortunately that’s not an option, I start back full-time again next week. It definitely hurts my heart but after the transition I think we will all settle into it nicely

I went back last week. I hated leaving her but was beyond ready to go back. I'm the same way, I'm just not meant to be a stay at home mom. With my first I stayed home for the first 3 months. I was going crazy. My husband didn't think I'd even make it my full FMLA leave before deciding to go back this time. I ended up making it to 11 weeks.

I cried when I thought about going back to work but I need to interact with other people. I did cry after my second day of work when i saw my LO. It’ll get better, I know.

Don’t feel guilty, I feel the same way in a sense. I miss talking to adults and being challenged. I love hanging out with my LO but need some me time. My job has amazing maternity benefits and I get 6 months off to be with baby so by the time it’s done, I’ll be ready.
