First IUI procedure is done, now we wait!

Lindsay • I’m Lindsay and my husband, Matt, and I have finally conceived our first baby after 4 long years of infertility!! 38 years old, BabyGirl due Feb. 2022!! 🎀

My husband and I had our first IUI this afternoon and I thought I’d share my personal experience in case anyone is getting ready for one!

We had a drop off of Matts specimen at 2:30pm for a procedure at 330-4pm. Matts specimen had 31 million, which the doctor said was great! Those were the good ones after the wash. The procedure took about 5 minutes and the most uncomfortable part was the spectulum. The rest didn’t feel any different than a routine Pap smear, and she even made the comment “hang in there Lindsay, your cervix is a little hard to get through.” Ladies don’t go in there freaking out worried about the pain, I promise if you have made it this far, you are good to go and will feel silly for every worrying. I have found that every time I worry that something is going to hurt, it almost never does as bad as I expect. This is yet another example. I didn’t think the dye test for my Fallopian tubes hurt that bad either, but I have heard IF you have a blockage it is more painful. Now, getting an IUD, that ish hurt like hell!!!! But nothing else has ever been that bad. I’ve also had a colposcopy and that didn’t hurt bad either. So just relax, and breathe.

It took about 1 minute once the speculum was in place. I felt a little crappy AFTER she was done... just like normal ovulation cramps, nothing crazy. She had me lay there with my hips elevated for 10 minutes, and then we were on our way. Easy Peasy!

Now for the really tough part, 2 week wait! This is by far the worst part lol. Especially if you have the patience of a 5 year old like I do! I pray this works the first time.. I pray for a healthy baby if it is Gods plan for me to be a mother!

I’ll be happy to answer any questions if anyone has any! Baby dust to all you ladies trying to create a mini! ❤️❤️👶🙏🏼
